SIZE AND FUNCTIONALITY OF SITE

This brand new school is located in the Rancho Viejo community south of Santa Fe off of Richards Ave. It consists of 23 classrooms and has 64,516 square feet of space.

INFRASTRUCTURE (ON-SITE AND OFF-SITE)

The landscaping is setting a new standard for SFPS. Every classroom has its own outside door and outdoor space. The school has sizable rainwater recycling systems across the site.

The following school building capacities are shown in the chart below:

Design with portables (also called “building capacity”) is the generic enrollment average of PK to 6th grade students in a class times the number of classrooms in the school. The potential number of students per classroom is set by the minimum requirements for class size established by the New Mexico Public Education Department.

Program with portables (also called ''functional capacity'') is the generic enrollment average of PK to 6th grade students in a class times the number of classrooms in the school after the number of classrooms is reduced by subtracting rooms used for something other than general education times a loading factor of 95%.

Design without portables is the generic enrollment average of PK to 6th grade students in a class times the number of classrooms in the school if the school no longer has portables and if activities currently in portables are housed in permanent classrooms.

Program without portables is the generic enrollment average of PK to 6th grade students in a class times the number of classrooms in the school after the number of classrooms are reduced by subtracting rooms used for something other than general education and if all activities currently in portables are housed in a permanent classroom times a loading factor of 95%.
Enrollment 2010-11 40th Day is the number of students attending the school on the state reporting day of the 2010-11 school year.

Enrollment at Amy Biehl does not exceed its design or program capacity. Another xx students more than the current enrollment could comfortably attend Atalaya without exceeding program capacity.

HISTORIC TRENDS AND PROJECTIONS FOR ENROLLMENT

This school opened in August of 2010.

ATTENDANCE

Amy Biehl Community School is located in Rancho Veijo, a community south of Santa Fe off of Richards Road. The communities of La Cienega, Cienegita along with the west frontage road are also in the assignment area. Students are transported to school on 1 of 3 buses.

This school relieved overcrowding issues are Pinon and Sweeney Elementary Schools.

RESIDENTIAL GROWTH PATTERNS

Rancho Viejo is continuing to build. Growth along the interstate and in La Cienega is not expected.

CHARACTERISTICS AND IMPACTS OF NEIGHBORHOOD AND COMMUNITY

The Rancho Viejo community will be impacted the most by this new school. Traffic will increase as students living in other parts of the district are brought to the school. On the other hand, children living directly across the street will be able to walk to school for the first time.

OPPORTUNITIES ANALYSIS

This school has the opportunity to grow as more students attend the newly created K-8 school.
